Looking at the challenges of Corona pandemic, Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) with Sphere India & IAG (Inter Agency Group), Uttarakhand launched COVID-19 Academy using virtual platform Zoom on 5th Jan 2021.
Inaugurating Covid-19 Academy, Mr. S.A Murugasan, Secretary- USDMA, spoke on the importance of such initiates for creating mass awareness & strong networking among major stakeholders engaged in the state working in the fight against Covid -19.
Speaking on this occasion Ms Kusum Ghiliyal, Convenor IAG UK mentioned about the detailed plans and roadmap of newly launched COVID-19 Academy and how with its local NGO members in all 13 districts will work to promote this.
Representative from Sphere India Ms Vandana Chauhan , also spoke about the role of this academy and how with the support from other civil societies in the state, training programs will be conducted to create further education and awareness. This is 7th such academy in the country with more to follow in other states. Ravinder Kala of Scout Guide Uttarakhand also extended their support for the success of this Academy .
Speaking on this occasion Dr Anil Jaggi, Sr. CSR Expert and Editor CompanyCSR emphasised on the potential role of CSR in running relief and awareness programs in the state and how major companies across India are already supporting various innovative & community based programs across the borders and suggested how Uttarakhand can also setup CSR Committee to seek support from India Inc.
Support from Red Cross Society with their 19 branches is also extended by Secretary Mr Harish Sharma. Vote of Thanks was given by Gaurav Suyal, convenor Sphere India- Uttarakhand Branch
